Next Hike

The next hike will be on Saturday, 15th February. 

We meet at the Ballpark in Gillies Bay at 10:00am.

Last week we drove south past the fallen tree that had blocked the road the Saturday before and headed up the Cook Bay road to the parking place about halfway up towards Mt. Davies.  Our destination was quite a lot higher and we figured the snow in the forest would not be too bad at all as there had been some mild rainy days that week.  We guessed right and made it to the Not-been-to-before-lake Bluff in good time.  My photo shows we had a great view of the snow-capped peaks on Vancouver Island as we ate lunch.  On the way back we made the short side-trip to Stromberg Falls and were rewarded with a wonderful display of water crashing down the cliffs. It's too bad the forest is so thick there that getting a single decent photo when the flow is that great is really not possible — you just have to be there.
