The next hike will be on Saturday, 29th February.
We meet at the Ballpark in Gillies Bay at 10:00am
Last week we were not too sure where the snow-line was so decided to pick a hike route that would likely have a good view, but not be so far south as to still be snow covered. As we drove south along Bell Road there was no snow in sight in the First Lake area so chose the top of Plateau Mountain as our destination. Walking uphill on the long abandoned logging road through the forest the atmosphere felt so good, fresh clean air with rays of the sun finding ways through the canopy. The trail gets steeper as you climb higher and leaving the forest behind we soon found ourselves mainly in warm sunshine. Our regular lunch spot was where we had lunch and you can see from my photo that the nearest clouds were far, far away above the Vancouver Island mountains — just perfect!
Another lovely winter day for hiking, in this case to the top of Plateau Mountain.
