The next hike will be on Saturday, 23rd November.
We meet at the Ballpark in Gillies Bay at 10:00am.
Last week we decided to head back to the area of Four Square Lakes, but this time hiking in the forest on the east side of Anderson Bay Road. Some of the Trekkers have been exploring and trail blazing this area in recent days and I wanted to revisit a couple of lakes I had discovered just a few years ago. It was not a particularly good day for hiking on this part high elevation part of the island which was shrouded in dense and very damp fog, cool and often slippery underfoot. Next time we hike there we will choose a warm sunny day, but the picture of the lake which looks like a boot on the map, shows just how beautiful it can be even when the weather is not that great.
Secluded and lovely Boot Lake on a foggy day. It's very close to the road to Anderson Bay and quite large, but I doubt many people know about it.[CL photo]
