This time we meet at the Canadian Legion in Van Anda.
This week the hike may be all or partly on private land and any dogs on the hike MUST be on a leash at all times.
Last week we hiked on the new trails near the Shingle Beach campground and sat for lunch on the beach logs. We were lucky to have no rain while we were walking, but in the forest we did run into some especially muddy areas where water seepage was very much what a kind of fairly primitive plant called liverwort requires. There are a small number of different species on Texada and the one I photographed is quite eye-catching. We did manage to find a few edible mushrooms although we are getting towards the end of the collecting season and I doubt there will be many left this weekend.
