There are two different ways of getting to the viewpoint on Thompson Bluffs. One route starts from First Lake on Bell Road and runs entirely through forest along very old logging roads and narrow winding trails and passing Mystery Lake along the way. The other route, the one we used last Saturday, starts from a parking spot on the logging road running uphill from Eagle Creek on the Davie Bay Road to join Thompson Road some way north of the bluffs. It felt rather cool when we started walking, but on this route there is a good deal of elevation gain so we were all nicely warmed up by the time we reached the lunch spot.
